Ever wanted to jump straight to a scene in your favorite anime, but couldn’t remember where in the episode—much less which episode—it was in? Japan’s Bandai Channel has introduced a new search function to take care of that.
The newly launched “Dialogue Search” is integrated into the rest of their search functions, and lets you search an episode’s closed-captioning for certain lines of dialogue. You’ll get exact and close matches, so you can find exactly what you’re looking for. It will also bring up occurrences of the phrase in connected works; so depending on what you’re hunting for, you may discover something new to watch.
At last, technology has gifted us with a way to quickly and easily find every “Nico Nico Nii”:
While some libraries allow you to search large databases of closed-captioned programs, searching in real time for dialogue within a show is still a fairly unique prospect. If it works well for Bandai, maybe we can look forward to it elsewhere in future.
